Going Mad

Epic Shopping Trip is Epic

Because, you see, my Amnesty group is doing a protest on Monday for Iran, and we are supposed to wear black, but the only black bottoms I have would be either a skirt and tights or leggings. And it is COLD here, so those are out. So I had to go and buy black trousers, and possibly also some warm.

On my way over to Prince's Street I exchanged smiles with someone dressed as a ghost, then passed a guy with a unicycle and a guy with most of a bike on his shoulder.

I found some black trousers that I think are actually meant to be cropped trousers, but I don't really care. They fit me without needing to be taken up, so I am very happy as they saved me a lot of effort (short legs and big hips equals all trousers too long). Then because I am very stupid I bought this lovely lovely dress that I found. ;_; IT'S SO LOVELY AND I LOVE ME IN IT.

Then the truly epic thing happened - on my way back through Hunter Square, I passed a group of people. One of them was dressed as the Tenth Doctor. None of the others were dressed up, but there was this one guy in a pinstriped suit and a brown trench coat (which I almost typed as tenchcoat, lulz) with his hair all gelled up. Like the Doctor. Then as I was going down the hill I passed a girl in Minnie Mouse ears coming up. There was also a girl who I think was about to join the first girl whow as holding several more sets of similiar ears. One was on a teddy bear.

I think something awesome is going on up there but I am not being included. :( I have to finish off my essays and do laundry and cook. But on the plus side, some people in the building opposite (which is another block of student flats, btw) stuck snow flakes all over their kitchen window, so I made one (because I have a strange and passionate love for making paper snow flakes) and stuck it on my window with a paper arrow pointing to it. Am waiting to see if they will notice and respond.

On the down side, my Merlin season two DVDs still aren't here. D: I got a package this morning, though. My great aunt sent me dishclothes because I was complaining to my mum about not having any any more. \o/ She had spares. One has the Twelve Days of Christmas on it!

Desperate Romantics

Huh

So I'm in Edinburgh.

It took about seven hours crammed into the back seat of my car with all my worldly possessions, but I'm HERE. Admittedly not in my hall - not till tomorrow - but I'm HERE. Right city and everything.

I'M SO SCARED ABOUT TOMORROW.  D:

Rain

Edinburgh

Not only did the nice rucksack never reappear, but another nice rucksack has now vanished. This one, however, contained a purse, several books, soft toys and a camera. With many pictures on it. And other stuff. Twas not mine, thankfully.
That is only one of many bad things that happened today (the others include M&S having no sandwiches at all, and all the bookings on the train being canceled, which I shouldn't complain about that much, because, well - it was due to this, so I can safely say other people came off worse).

HOWEVER. I did also get to see what has to be the single most awesome art exhibition I've ever been to. Picture )

See that big coloured thing in the middle? This guy had built one of those. You could look inside it. It's all mirrors, and it's like WHOA.
There were also stuffed hybrid animals... one was a llama/dog/ostrich hybrid. An article about it.

New Year was fun too. >_> And I took about three hundred pictures. That was not an exaggeration. There were only a few on there, and there's about three hundred now. >_<

I also went to a really damn weird street theatre thing. The finale was a giant flying cube thing with people dressed as fairies inside. It rained. I got wet enough that my jeans were still wet the next morning and had to be dried with a hairdryer. >_<

Happy New Year, guys.

Breakfast

The Phantom Rucksack

I know it exists. It was my schoolbag in year nine. So why has it vanished? ;_; I want it to go on holiday with. But no.
And now no-one else can remember it existing! >_< If I can't find it I shall have to take a really ugly bag. >_<

I am buying a new bag for holiday purposes. I've decided.

Going to Edinburgh tomorrow. Back Friday. Hopefully with the nice rucksack.

Going Mad

Edinburgh

So I'm going to Edinburgh to be raped and murdered on Friday. otherwise known as 'to meet an online friend'. Should be fun. ^_^
Also, the Doctor Who serial I'm currently determined to see comes out on DVD in three weeks. Unfortunately, the other four I want to see are neither out on DVD nor available online. Bah.

It's too early!

I'm tired. I've been awake for too long. I should be eating breakfast because I need to leave early today (last day, going home tomorrow, whee!).

So, um - yesterday was fun. I spent the morning with the manuscripts-library-type-people and got to see some really old books (eleventh and twelvth century). There was a copy of Virgil's Aeneid (which I studied in Latin) bound in velvet, and some really old prayer books - the colours hadn't faded at all. They were still all shiny with gold bits.

Then in the afternoon one of the web design people made some suggestions about this, which is an online version of my Grandfathers article on Mao Tse Tung. Very helpful, but I did have to keep pointing out that a)It was only ever meant to be accessed by readers of the journal it was published in, and b) I didn't do the formatting - just copy-pasted it.

Anyway, breakfast has now begun, so I will begone.
