HAPPY CHRISTMAS!


OKAY, OKAY. I deliberately typed up this post earlier, so I could still remember the dream I had last night, but then LJ ate it and I only just noticed, so now the details have faded somewhat.

So, today it snowed, which is pretty awesome timing seeing as how today is basically the day Christmas begins, as far as I am concerned. Thus I went Christmas shopping, which would have been much more enjoyable were snow not cold and wet when one is exposed to it for a prolonged period of time, which I was, because I wanted to go to this chocolate shop that gnimaerd recommended, because my sister likes hot chocolate very very much and they sell fancy drinking chocolate.

It was very much worth it, though. : D Has to be one of the nicest shops I've ever been in. I came back craving chocolate. <3

Then for some reason it took me till today to realise that I live two minutes walk away from a sci-fi and fantasy bookshop. Whaaat. WTF, self. It turns out that as well as books they sell adorable, beautiful soft toys. I now have a toy dinosaur and I am going back tomorrow for another one. Why? Because I have named this one Arthur and I am going to name the other one Merlin. : D If you are interested, Arthur is a brachiosaurus and Merlin, when I buy him, will be a stegosaurus.

Because, you see, my Amnesty group is doing a protest on Monday for Iran, and we are supposed to wear black, but the only black bottoms I have would be either a skirt and tights or leggings. And it is COLD here, so those are out. So I had to go and buy black trousers, and possibly also some warm.

On my way over to Prince's Street I exchanged smiles with someone dressed as a ghost, then passed a guy with a unicycle and a guy with most of a bike on his shoulder.

I found some black trousers that I think are actually meant to be cropped trousers, but I don't really care. They fit me without needing to be taken up, so I am very happy as they saved me a lot of effort (short legs and big hips equals all trousers too long). Then because I am very stupid I bought this lovely lovely dress that I found. ;_; IT'S SO LOVELY AND I LOVE ME IN IT.

Then the truly epic thing happened - on my way back through Hunter Square, I passed a group of people. One of them was dressed as the Tenth Doctor. None of the others were dressed up, but there was this one guy in a pinstriped suit and a brown trench coat (which I almost typed as tenchcoat, lulz) with his hair all gelled up. Like the Doctor. Then as I was going down the hill I passed a girl in Minnie Mouse ears coming up. There was also a girl who I think was about to join the first girl whow as holding several more sets of similiar ears. One was on a teddy bear.

I think something awesome is going on up there but I am not being included. :( I have to finish off my essays and do laundry and cook. But on the plus side, some people in the building opposite (which is another block of student flats, btw) stuck snow flakes all over their kitchen window, so I made one (because I have a strange and passionate love for making paper snow flakes) and stuck it on my window with a paper arrow pointing to it. Am waiting to see if they will notice and respond.

On the down side, my Merlin season two DVDs still aren't here. D: I got a package this morning, though. My great aunt sent me dishclothes because I was complaining to my mum about not having any any more. \o/ She had spares. One has the Twelve Days of Christmas on it!

It only occured to me a few days ago that there is something odd about the fact that I love putting citites build on or around bridges in my fantasy... and I live in Edinburgh. Huh.

I am not going to bother with a cut is all I want to say is: after watching this episode, I went and added entries for over at TV Tropes for Crowning Moment of Awesome and Crowning Moment of Heartwarming, and I am thinking I shall add entries for Tearjerker and Nightmare Fuel as well. \o/

So this is, technically, my first ever piece of pure Merlin/Arthur/Gwen fic. xD

Arthur sees Merlin and Gwen, and greets them thus:

'Ah, here's two two favorite girls!'
'I'm not-'
'Shut up, Merlin.'

That is all.

Eleven words.

I must use this in a fic sometime.

So I am writing Merlin/Gwen fic. I do not know why. I haven't really shipped them since The Poisoned Chalice and all that. But for some reason I got an urge to bridge the gap between that episode and Lancelot.

Huh.

Thus far it has them kissing while out collecting mushrooms, almost banging their heads together while trying to get Gwen's dress off, and making brief references to Dollhouse (someone back me up here - Merlin would totally say 'man-reaction', y/y?).

In other news, yesterday I watched the greatest film of all time - Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter. It was actually a lot better than I expected. >_>

So, I am watching Merlin episode two on iPlayer, and I'm a tad confused.

...For Merlin fans on my flist. Are any of you going to this? Because at present, it seems the only thing stopping me from getting a ticket is that I don't have anyone to go with.

Seeing someone looking for one of my fics on that comm for the first time was weird. I was kind of disappointed that someone had already replied, so I couldn't go OH HEY I WROTE THAT.

Okay, I think I fucked my my LJ cuts pretty badly, but I can't be bothered to fix it.

*insert lengthy squee here*

I had the most incredibly awesome day... even if I did have to be up early and it took about three hours to get there. But hey, on the last leg of the journey we got to share a bus with about fifty cosplayers, which was HILARIOUS.

Then we spent FOREVER trying to get our hands on an autograph ticket - four different info desks before we found out they were all gone - and finally ended up buying them from some people in the queue for the panel. : D

And OMG THE PANEL. I can't decide whether or not to try and write about this tomorrow when I'm not half asleep... *yawns*
So apparently Colin Morgan can't wiggle his ears... And Angel Coulby is lovely... and Bradly called Colin 'disturbed'. xD
The best bit, however, was when one of the Merlin cosplayers put her hand up... and then, when the man came round the with microphone, they ALL got up and stood in a line, and said 'so what's your reaction to THIS?'. And OMG LAWL (they loved it, btw).
There were questions I wanted to ask but I never got round to putting my hand up. FAIL. And then I was too shy to talk to them properly at the signing... FAIL again.
But OMG THEY WERE, LIKE, A FOOT AWAY AND THEY SPOKE TO ME AND OMG I HAVE THEIR AUTOGRAPHS.

I was also rather amused to discover that I recognised some of Bradley's mannerisms from the video diaries. And speaking of video diaries... I think he was filming for the seaosn two ones at the panel. OMG OMG.

Apparently Arthur will be shirtless in the first episode of season two. : DD

So I finally got round to replacing one of my userpics with one of the icons I got in one of the Merlin Secret Santas. : D
And now I may have to write some crack...

So I had a really awesome Christmas.

I got Merlin on DVD, FINALLY, so I have FINALLY seen the video diaries on the special features. I laughed so much I choked. >_> Then I showed the first three episodes to Tiffany (my sister's friend from Australia, who's HEre for Christmas) and she loved it, which was nice.

I also got jelly beans. And this awesome Doctor Who book. My love for RTD increases as I read it. There was one bit where he was talking about how he's read some of the online comments about him, and it made me feel bad, even though I've never said such things... and certainly not on Outpost Gallifrey. I have an account there, but I don't use it (apparently one writer was somewhat traumatised by doing the same thing, but... I didn't like the episodes in question, so I can't feel that bad).

It also got me musing about the whole which-actors-would-play-my-characters thing... so, uh... random musing below?

W00T! I'm now five thousand words ahead of my target, so yay!

In other writing news... a whole bunch of evil Merlin death!fic plot bunnies have come out of the hutch and won't leave, even though I keep telling them that I don't have time, and I don't WANT to kill Merlin.
But no. I wrote one fic, and now I feel the need to write another. >_<
